The contributions of the Stanton and Killeen families to the history of Rutherglen and to the development of Australia's most exclusive wine region are the stuff of legend. An assemblage of cellar aged wines, crafted from precious parcels of fruit grown to quarantined vines, Shiraz and Durif with a host of Portuguese varietals, Touriga and Tinta Cao, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz, a complex mix of rare Rutherglen fruit in astonishing balance.

A blend of varying vintages of predominantly Shiraz and Touriga Nacional wines with a smaller component of Cabernet, treated and fermented separately to the point where an addition of fine brandies arrests the innoculation, preserving natural fruit sugars, textures and varietal complexities. The wines are then held in a combination of seasoned large and small oak barrels before assembling into a ruby style of port. An immensely satisfying Rutherglen wine, with some slight barrel aged characters showing through on the bouquet and palate.

Introducing the youngest range in the Stanton Killeen portfolio, an essemblage of several vintages Muscat a Petit Grains Rouge, rotated and topped up through a system of old oak barrels, according to the traditional Solera system. Muscat grapes are picked at high levels of natural sugar, fermented on skins and fortified with spirit to preserve the opulent sweetness. The original vineyards established by Jack Stanton in 1921 are still yielding world class fortified wines. The luscious Rutherglen range are fashioned to showcase the wanton richness of ripe Rutherglen fruit.

The Stanton & Killeen parcels are just three kilometres due west of Rutherglen, on picturesque, gently undulating pastorals. Thirty hectares of the best well drained soils are planted to vine, a mix of gravel ridges and red loam slopes, under which lie auspicious porous clays. It is on these latter soils that the Classic Muscat is grown. Sunning the oaken barrels which hold various vintages, rotation of the stocks through a complicated Solera system, slowly develops the melt in your mouth richness, an artisanal recipe handed down through six generations of Stanton Killeen.

The dedicated vignerons at Seppeltsfield are very fond of a few choice parcels which grow an intensely flavoured Moscato. This is the vineyard block they call upon to fashion a very favourite drink, the elixir that revitalizes and refreshes at the end of a hard day's work. Fully ripe grapes, bursting with a concentration of juicy flavours are vinified to retain a toothsome natural sweetness. Para Grand is named after the Para River that flows through the centre of the Barossa Valley. Joseph Seppelt was one of many Silesian migrants who fled persecution to settle the new colonies of Australia. He sowed vines in 1851 and had the foresight to establish a brand which endures as one of the nation's great traditions. His son was Oscar Benno, also blessed with a rare sense of vision for the future, he took the selfless initiative to lay down barrels of the finest fortified wine for a one hundred year endowment. These priceless stocks serve as a backbone for the construct of the most lusciou fortified wines, treasured by enthusiasts around the world.

A classic, bone-dry flor style of great finesse, produced using the traditional Solera system, the finest example of its style in Australia. Seppelt Rutherglen is made from the Brown Muscat grape, harvested at peak ripeness and fortified to give an aromatic spirit lift. The House of Seppelt's rarest and most iconic wine, only ever made in great vintages, returns after a hiatus of ten years. Originally formulated by Edmond Mazure in the gay nineties of the 19th Century, Seppelt Sparkling Show Shiraz is the only wine in Australia that's made precisely the same way ever since. An epic and enduring canon of the winemaker's art which has stood the test of time, aged under the historic Seppelt underground drives, to evolve the extraordinary richness which defines the exquisiteness of Great Western Sparkling Shiraz.

The flagship sparkling from the House of Seppelt, Salinger is made to authentic Methode traditionelle. One of Australia's premier sparklers, an elegant and refined effervescent wine, with the inclusion of aged reserves for added complexity. Importantly, Salinger is assembled from the very best Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meuniere available to Seppelt. Treated to the most meticulous vinification, followed by a lengthy spell of ageing under The Drives, Seppelt Great Western's famous underground cellars.

Seppelt have had more experience with this uniquely Australian style of wine than anyone else in the world. Although there are no precise records, it appears that Seppelt wre experimenting with sparkling red wines as far back as the 1890s. Seppelt Original is constructed to true Method Traditionelle. An assemblage of intensely flavoured Shiraz wines, barrel matured and aged on yeast lees, creating a complex Cuvee with great depth of flavour and length of fruit, long dusty oak, mouthfilling berry plum flavours and a resplendent, lively effervescence.

During the outstanding Rutherglen vintage of 1983, a parcel of fruit with amazing intensity of flavour, reached an incredible natural sugar ripeness at 36 degrees of Baume, it was set aside and treated to a no expense spared vinification for ageing in small oak casks. This single vintage of precious fruit forms the basis of Seppelt GR 113 Rare Rutherglen Muscat, a wine with an immensely rich, complex palate and outstanding length, the definitive, aged Rutherglen Muscat, recipient of multiple trophy victories and countless gold medals.

Fleur de Lys is a popular, non vintage Cuvee, assembled from base wines across several harvests, bottle fermented to a level of complexity and consistency of style from year to year. Fashioned from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown to Seppelt's extensive and specialised cool climate vineyards, Fleur de Lys is soft and elegant in style with subtle, integrated fruit and yeasty aromas.

An ancient marque steeped in history, Segura Viudas began branding it's sparklings in the 1950s, limiting production for the enjoyment of an exclusive clientele, not releasing commercial quantities until 1969. The Penedes Denominaciones de Origen produces amazing methode champenoise, crafted from a mix of indigenous Spanish varietals which are unavailable anywhere else in the world.

The Segura Viudas wineworks at Penedes date back to the 11th century. An ancient watchtower of diverse architectural styles, Gothic, Visigothic and Romanesque, it was converted circa 13th century into a stately manor for the purpose of managing local agriculture and viticulture. At the end of the 19th century, the region became self aware of it's potential and applied Methode champenoise to the local grape varieties. Aria Brut Nature is a mature wine with heady mousse, beguilling aromas and satisfyingly, cleansing finish.

The Hill is named after a high point from which enthusiastic Scottish settlers would view horse races. Scotchmans Hill have fashioned this exceptional range of wines to be fresh and fruit driven, ideally suited to contemporary tastes, perfect for early consumption.

Scotchman's Hill can source grapes from the higher altitudes of King Valley, where the crisp and saturate microclimes develop Chardonnay that's renowned for sparkling wine. Satisfying the growing resurgence amongst enthusiasts of grand Barossa Shiraz, for fully flavoured robust sparkling red wines, Schild are a boutique, father to son estate, who have been releasing vintages of impressive international repute. Scarborough are passionate about all thing Semillon, a felicitous varietal that lends itself to a marvelous diversity of styles. There’s always a place at the table for Late Picked Semillon, as aperitif or accompaniement, alongside savouries or sweet. Unashamedly textural, alluringly redolent of jonagold and jaffa, fantales and fig, a dazzling balance between natural vine ripened honeyness and juicy, fruity acidity.

In 1859 William Salter and his son Edward founded the firm W. Salter & Son, which has since evolved into the baronial Saltram label. To celebrate 150 years of winemaking, an extremely limited amount of very rare old tawny from the 1959 vintage has been released. Only 1859 bottles were made to coincide with Saltram's founding year. This eternal wine is drawn from a single growing season, but unlike most vintage fortifieds which have been aged in bottle, Saltram Vintage Rare Tawny has been kept in oak barrels for fifty years to achieve its peerless style.

Founded in 1911, Maison Salon is the passionate creation of one man, a Champagne connoisseur enchanted, then seduced by the terroir of Le Mesnil.
